ABOUT US

WHAT: Modeled after the nationally recognized Pepsi Refresh Project that recently awarded $250k to the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation, the Erie County Gaming Revenue Authority (ECGRA) is empowering the community to choose which Erie County-based nonprofit organizations will receive one of three UChoose Grants: (1) $5,000, (1) $10,000, and (1) $15,000.

WHY: UChoose Grants is designed to educate, enlighten, and embolden community members while providing ECGRA with a significantly larger, more diverse, wide-ranging pool of funding prospects.

HOW: From October 10-November16, 2011, any 501(c)(3) headquartered in Erie County is eligible to apply for charitable, community, or educational projects that benefit the people of Erie County.

From November 28, 2011-January 11, 2012, the community will determine which three of those projects will win by casting online votes and encouraging other like-minded people to do the same.

The winning organizations will be awarded checks at an ECGRA-sponsored media event on January 12, 2012.

An Erie County public authority, ECGRA's mission is to empower the nonprofit sector by granting in five key areas: Regional and Community Assets, Economic Development, Capital Projects, Social Services, and Municipalities.

Since February 2008, ECGRA has invested nearly $12.2 million in Erie County.
